Next-Generation Industrial AI Platform and AI Soft Sensors for Global Polymer Manufacturing
Project INNOVATE/0525/0059 Officially Launched Under THALIA 2021-2027 | Co-funded by the European Union
Hyperion Systems Engineering Ltd, the Cyprus-based industrial technology and deep-tech software company behind HYPPOS — the world’s first AI-powered digital twin platform purpose-built for polymer production — today announced the successful award and official launch of HYPPOS-AI (Hyperion Production Online Software with Artificial Intelligence), a next-generation Industrial AI initiative designed to transform operational intelligence across the global process industries.

The project has been selected for funding under the INNOVATE/0525 Call of the RESTART 2016–2020 Programme within the THALIA 2021–2027 Operational Programme, co-funded by the Structural Funds of the European Union. HYPPOS-AI successfully passed a rigorous competitive evaluation by the Cyprus Research & Innovation Foundation (RIF), reflecting the project’s scientific excellence, industrial
relevance, technological maturity, and commercialization potential.
HYPPOS-AI represents the next evolution of Hyperion’s industrial intelligence platform, combining advanced Artificial Intelligence, digital twins, and real-time industrial data integration to optimize complex continuous-process manufacturing environments.
The platform introduces a new generation of AI-driven industrial soft sensing technologies based on:
Dynamic Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) AI architectures
Online learning algorithms for continuous operational adaptation
Real-time quality prediction during both steady-state and transitional operations
Explainable AI methodologies suitable for industrial and regulated environments
Vendor-neutral deployment across existing industrial infrastructures
HYPPOS-AI has been specifically designed for complex process industries including petrochemicals, refining, polymers, chemicals, energy, and advanced manufacturing.
A key innovation of the platform is its ability to dynamically activate specialized AI “experts” depending on plant operating conditions — including grade transitions, start-ups, disturbances, and steady-state production — enabling more accurate, adaptive, and scalable operational optimization without the need for frequent manual retraining.
Originally developed for advanced Natural Language Processing and multimodal AI systems, Dynamic Mixture-of-Experts architectures are now being applied by Hyperion to industrial process optimization and operational intelligence, creating a highly differentiated Industrial AI capability for real-world manufacturing environments.
Independent evaluators highlighted the project’s industrial applicability, technical maturity, commercialization strategy, and contribution to sustainable manufacturing and industrial digital transformation. Particular emphasis was placed on the innovative application of Dynamic Mixture-ofExperts models with online learning for real-time industrial quality prediction.
HYPPOS-AI builds upon Hyperion’s long-standing presence in the global process industries and existing live deployments of HYPPOS within polymer manufacturing operations. The broader HYPPOS platform has already been deployed across multiple polymer production facilities internationally, validating both the operational model and the industrial scalability of the platform.
The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Cyprus Institute / CaSToRC, combining Hyperion’s industrial process expertise with advanced AI, machine learning, and high-performance computing capabilities.
